Rosie’s Helping Hands
Rosie’s Helping Hands is a charity based in Aldridge, started in 2003 by husband and wife – and parents of Rosie – Karen and Sean Ross, after their daughter was tragically killed in a random knife attack in Centenary Square in Birmingham in 2001. Karen and Sean have devoted their time to improving the lives of children within the area through their dedication to fundraising events such as the annual Rosie’s Walk and Festival.

Go to WebsiteBlack Country Living Museum
Telephone: 0121 557 9643
Address: Tipton Road, Dudley, DY1 4SQ
The story of the Black Country is distinctive because of the scale, drama, intensity and multiplicity of the industrial might that was unleashed. It first emerged in the 1830s, creating the first industrial landscape anywhere in the world. It is this that we rejoice in and want to share with you.
Our award-winning corner of the West Midlands is now one of the finest and largest open-air museums in the United Kingdom. After very humble beginnings, a bright idea and 40 years of inspiration, this is twenty six acres worth exploring. Amazing as it may seem, we have created a ‘place’ – a real and lively place, where once there was nothing and nobody. With a village and charismatic residents to chat with. Trams to ride. Games to play. Things being made. Stories to hear. People – their triumphs to admire and troubles to be thankful that are not ours. Time to be well spent.
If you are old enough, you may just be looking for nostalgia and that is fine. But equally, we believe that history shouldn’t be seen as a safe haven in a fast changing and challenging world, but a catalyst for thinking and reflection about our own lives.

Twycross Zoo was founded in 1963 by pet shop owners Molly Badham and Natalie Evans, after the pair’s increasing zoological collection outgrew their three quarter acre site in Hints, Staffordshire.
Twycross Zoo is now renowned as a World Primate Centre and has a wide variety of monkeys and apes including the UK’s only group of bonobos. We have breeding groups of many endangered primate species so we often have babies and toddlers playing around in our great ape groups, and in many of our monkey groups. We also hold a range of other species including Asian elephants, snow leopards, penguins, meerkats, tapir, hyena, and the world’s rarest big cat, the Amur leopard.

Since planting began in 1997, the national memorial arboretum has been a special place honouring those who have served, and continue to serve, our nation in many different ways.
It’s not a cemetery, its a place of life, represented by the 50,000 trees planted here, where older and younger generations alike can wander and wonder.
The trees and the more than 200 dedicated memorials on our site make the arboretum a living tribute that will forever acknowledge the personal sacrifices made by the Armed Forces and civil services of this country. Importantly the focus isn’t just military. There is a large area devoted to Police who have fallen while on duty, as well as other areas devoted to the Fire and rescue and Ambulance Services. National charities representing those who have died in particular circumstances, including children, are also to be found in the Arboretum grounds.
